Josh Staumont announces new charity partnership

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 13, 2020) – Royals pitcher Josh Staumont and his wife, Angelina, are proud to announce their new initiative, Pitch In for Pets. This season, the Staumonts will partner with Royals Charities to cover the adoption fees for at least 100 bully breed dogs through KC Pet Project.

The first Pitch In for Pets adoption special will begin on Friday, August 21, and continue through Sunday, August 23. Adoption fees for all dogs 30 lbs. or more will be reduced to $30, and adopters can visit KC Pet Project at its location in Swope Park at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care or its adoption center in the Zona Rosa shopping center.

KC Pet Project found adoptive homes for 7,619 pets in 2019 including Bully Breed dogs, whom have similar traits and characteristics often known by the public as Pit Bulls. The Staumonts, who own three bully breed dogs themselves, hope that hundreds of dogs find loving homes through this initiative.

"We have always had a soft spot in our hearts for bully breed dogs,” said Staumont. “Through the program, we hope to increase the number of friendly homes for adoptable bully breeds.”

“We’re thrilled to have the support of the Staumonts and Royals Charities during the 2020 season,” said Tori Fugate, Chief Communications Officer of KC Pet Project. “It’s always a wonderful thing to see professional athletes lend their voices to important causes in our community, and for Josh and Angelina to support the bully breeds of our shelter in this way to help them find forever homes is such a generous gesture.”
