Guardians sign RHP Ben Lively
CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Guardians announced today the following transaction relative to the 2024 Major League 40-player roster:
Signed free agent RHP Ben Lively to a 2024 Major League contract.
The roster is currently at 40 players.
Lively, 31, split the 2023 season between Cincinnati and Triple-A Louisville, posting a mark of 4-7 with a 5.38 ERA in 19 games/12 starts for the Reds (88.2IP, 96H, 53ER, 70SO). After spending the 2022 season at AAA Louisville, he began the 2023 campaign with the Sluggers before his May 9 promotion to the Queen City, spending the remainder of the season in Cincinnati around three stints to the Injured List. He began his professional career in the Reds organization after his fourth round selection in the 2013 MLB Draft out of Central Florida. The Gulf Breeze, FL native was later traded to Philadelphia prior to the 2015 season, debuting with the Phillies in 2017. He spent the second half of 2019 and all of 2020 and 2021 with the Samsung Lions in the Korean Baseball Organization before signing back with the Reds.
