Guardians & Dodgers complete trade

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Guardians today announced the following transaction:

Acquired RHP NOAH SYNDERGAARD and cash from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for SS AMED ROSARIO.

Syndergaard, 30, owns a career Major League record of 58-45 with a 3.65 ERA in 158 games/156 starts with the New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers since debuting in 2015. He was a National League All-Star with the Mets in 2016, posting a 14-9 mark with a 2.60 ERA in 30 starts for the entirety of the season. He split the 2022 season between Los Angeles (AL) and Philadelphia, posting a 10-10 record with a 3.94 ERA in 25 games/24 starts (134.2IP, 138H, 59ER, 95K). He went on to post a combined ERA of 3.24 (3ER/8.1IP) in the Postseason for the NL Champion Phillies to compliment his career Postseason ERA of 2.62 (9G/6GS, 10ER/34.1IP). He was a first-round selection (38th overall) by Toronto in the 2020 MLB Draft and was traded to the Mets in December 2012.

He has spent the 2023 season to date with the Dodgers after signing a one-year contract in December. He has not pitched since June 7 after being placed on the 15-day IL (blister, R index finger). He recently made two starts in Triple-A Oklahoma City beginning July 15, the last of which came on July 21.

Rosario batted .265 (102-for-385) with 19 2B, 6 3B, 3 HR & 40 RBI in 94 games for Cleveland this season.
