Dodgers add Justin Wrobleski, Andy Pages and Michael Grove
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers added left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski and outfielder Andy Pages to roster, recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Grove and optioned right-handed pitcher Ben Casparius.
Wrobleski, 24, returns to the Dodgers for his third stint with the big-league club after earning his first Major League win in his last outing on August 16 at St. Louis, allowing four earned runs over 5.0 innings with three strikeouts. The southpaw is 1-1 with the Dodgers across five starts, striking out 18 in 25.0 innings and producing a 1.20 WHIP. He has limited right-handed hitters to a .194 average and made his Major League debut on July 7 against the Milwaukee Brewers. With Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, he has posted a 0-2 record with a 5.26 ERA (15 ER/25.2 IP) in five starts with 15 strikeouts. He began the season with Double-A Tulsa, starting 13 games and producing a 5-2 record with a 3.06 ERA (23 ER/67.2 IP) and 62 strikeouts against just 13 walks. The Hoffman Estates, Illinois native was originally drafted in the 11th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft by the Dodgers out of Oklahoma State University.
Pages, 23, makes his second trip to the Dodgers after spending 98 games with the club earlier this year. The outfielder slashed .246/.305/.388, tallying 22 doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 36 RBI after making his Major League debut on April 16 against Washington. Pages played 78 games in center field, producing a .991 fielding percentage and did not make an error while playing 31 games in right field. He collected his first career home run in his fifth game of the season on April 21 against the New York Mets. In 24 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, he produced a .356/.421/.663/1.084 slashline with eight home runs and 22 RBI. The Havana, Cuba native was originally signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent on March 1, 2018.
Grove, 27, returns for his second stint with the club after being optioned on August 17. He made three appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City since August 17, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. He is 4-3 on the season with a 5.18 ERA in 33 games for the Dodgers. He has made 58 appearances (20 starts) for the Dodgers over three seasons, going 7-6 with a 5.53 ERA and 146 strikeouts in 140.0 innings. He was originally drafted in the second round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of West Virginia University.
Casparius, 25, made his Major League debut last night, tossing a scoreless inning in the eighth inning and recording his first career win. He holds a 4-3 record in 14 games (13 starts) and a 3.30 ERA (22 ER/60.0 IP) with 64 strikeouts with Triple-A Oklahoma City after being promoted on May 7. He has spent four minor league seasons in the Dodgers’ organization, going 14-17 in 77 games (56 starts) with 338 strikeouts against 145 walks. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the fifth round of the 2021 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Connecticut.
