Dodgers acquire José Hernández

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired left-handed pitcher Jose Hernadez from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash considerations. In order to make room on the roster, the Dodgers transferred right-handed pitcher Ryan Brasier to the 60-day injured list.

Hernandez, 26, was designated for assignment on June 11 after appearing in seven games for the Pirates. He was 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings. He has pitched parts of two seasons with the Pirates, posting a 2-4 record with a 4.82 ERA in 56 innings and 66 strikeouts. In his minor league career, he has a 17-10 record with a 3.65 ERA and 258 strikeouts in 226.2 innings. The Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic native was originally signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent on May 12, 2016 and was acquired by the Pirates on December 7, 2022 via the Rule 5 Draft.
