Details announced for Opening Series at Miller Park

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers celebrate the 2020 Home Opener against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, July 31, at 1:10 p.m. at Miller Park. Highlights for the first homestand of the season include some creative takes on traditional Home Opener and Regular Season traditions.

Ceremonial First Cheers: What’s more “Milwaukee” than a Ceremonial First Cheers? Presented by Miller Lite, the Ceremonial First Cheers will substitute for the tradition of the First Pitch all season long. On the video board in center field prior to each game, some of the Crew’s favorite alumni and special guests will send their best wishes by raising a glass and delivering an inspirational message to get the game rolling. The first Ceremonial First Cheers will be hosted by Hall-of-Famers and Brewers Legends Bob Uecker and Baseball Commissioner Emeritus Allan H. (Bud) Selig. Cheers for other games will come from alumni Cecil Cooper, Corey Hart, Nyjer Morgan, Robin Yount and more.

Johnsonville Famous Racing Sausages Road Show: The beloved Johnsonville Famous Racing Sausages will adopt a travel schedule to start the 2020 season, showing up at a variety of “surprise” locations throughout the Milwaukee area to stage the cherished 6th inning tradition. While fans can’t see the Johnsonville Famous Racing Sausages at Miller Park on Opening Day, the whole gang – Bratwurst, Hot Dog, Polish, Italian and Chorizo – will take to the road to battle it out on road courses. The race will “air” during each game in the middle of the 6th inning on the Miller Park video board and on Brewers social media channels.

Play Ball Kid: Brewers players’ children will take on the responsibility of the “Play Ball” kid this season. Videos from players’ families will grace the scoreboard to cheer on their dads and start each game’s action with the call of, “Play Ball!”

Brewers “Cutout Crew”: The Club recently launched the Brewers “Cutout Crew” as a unique way to incorporate fans, and pets, in Miller Park during the 2020 season and celebrate Bob Uecker’s 50th season as the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers. The two-foot images of fan likeness will be found near Bob Uecker’s “Last Row” statue, as well as rotate behind home plate for each of the home games. A portion of the proceeds benefit Brewers Community Foundation.

National Anthem: Ballpark favorite, 11-Year-Old Liamani Segura, will sing the National Anthem for the 2020 Home Opener live at Miller Park. She’s previously performed at Miller Park during both the regular season and postseason, as well as for the 2019 NCAA Women’s Final Four Championship Game. Liamani comes from a family of health care workers, including her mother working as a Nurse and her grandmother as a Medial Assistant at Aurora Health Center in Racine.

Flyover: Following Friday’s National Anthem, a KC-135R Stratotanker provided by the Wisconsin Air National Guard 128th Air Refueling Wing will perform a flyover over Miller Park.

Watch the Game: The Milwaukee Brewers 60-game regular-season broadcast schedule includes every game broadcast on both television and radio. FOX Sports Wisconsin, the exclusive television home of the Brewers, will televise 58 games. Brian Anderson and Matt Lepay will share play-by-play duties alongside color analyst Bill Schroeder and sideline reporter Sophia Minnaert. Craig Coshun and Dario Melendez will host Brewers Live with Jerry Augustine providing analysis. Brewers Live will air before and after each telecast. Fans can also listen to all 60 games on Newsradio 620 WTMJ and the Brewers Radio Network, with Hall of Fame announcer Bob Uecker calling his 50th season of Brewers baseball accompanied by Jeff Levering and Lane Grindle.

Social Media: Fans can interact with the Crew on social media using #ThisIsMyCrew and #BrewersAtHome.

MLB Ballpark App: Fans are encouraged to download MLB Ballpark app from Google Play or the Apple App store to bring Miller Park into their homes for the 2020 season. From the app, fans can participate in several promotions, play Brewers Baseball Bingo presented by U.S. Cellular, enter to win the Toyota Highlander Home Run Sweepstakes and enjoy the new digital version of Game Day Magazine from the comfort of home.
