D-backs Recall Robby Scott From Triple-A Reno, Select Kevin Ginkel From Reno And Designate Zack Godley For Assignment; Optioned Taylor Clarke To Reno Following Yesterday’s Game

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled LHP Robby Scott (@RobbyScott36) from Triple-A Reno, selected RHP Kevin Ginkel (@ginks_sd) from Reno and designated RHP Zack Godley for assignment. Following yesterday’s game, the D-backs optioned RHP Taylor Clarke to Reno. The D-backs’ 40-man roster is at 39.

Scott, 29, will wear No. 63 in his first stint with the D-backs. In 37 relief appearances for Reno this season, he was 3-0 with 1 save, a 6.95 ERA (34 ER in 44.0 IP), .224 opponent average and 55 strikeouts. He held lefties to a .197 average (12-for-61) with 24 strikeouts and righties to a .240 average (25-for-104) with 31 strikeouts. He also made 2 appearances at Double-A Jackson, working 3.0 scoreless innings as opponents went 0-for-9 with 1 strikeout.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder was acquired by the D-backs from the Red Sox on December 30, 2018. In 3 seasons for the Red Sox (2016-18), he made 73 relief appearances and went 3-2 with a 3.91 ERA (21 ER in 48.1 IP), .217 opponent average and 44 strikeouts. He has held lefties to a .149 average (13-for-87) with 24 strikeouts.

Ginkel, 25, will wear No. 37 for his Major League debut. He was the D-backs’ 22nd-round pick in the 2016 draft out of the University of Arizona and will be the fifth Wildcat to play for the D-backs, joining Ed Vosberg (1999), Alan Zinter (2004), Daniel Schlereth (2009) and Konrad Schmidt (2010, ’12).

The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder made a combined 29 relief appearances at Reno and Double-A Jackson this season. In his last 8 games since July 11 (1 game at Jackson, 7 games at Reno), he had 18 strikeouts in 23 total outs (a 78.3 strikeouts-to-outs percentage). He also recorded 2+ strikeouts in 20 of his 29 outings at Reno and Jackson, including 3+ 9 times.

Overall at Reno and Jackson, he went 2-2 with 11 saves, a 1.89 ERA (7 ER in 33.1 IP), .164 opponent average (19-for-116) and 62 strikeouts (16.74 strikeouts per 9.0 innings). He held opponents scoreless in 13 of 15 relief appearances for Reno and went 1-0 with 6 saves, a 1.62 ERA (3 ER in 16.2 IP), a .169 opponent average and 36 strikeouts. He held opponents scoreless in 11 of 14 games at Jackson and went 1-2 with 5 saves, a 2.16 ERA (4 ER in 16.2 IP), .158 opponent average, 26 strikeouts and a 0.84 WHIP (9 H, 5 BB).

Over 4 seasons in the D-backs’ system (2016-19), he has made 129 relief appearances and is 10-5 with 22 saves, a 2.60 ERA (48 ER in 166.1 IP), .196 opponent average and 239 strikeouts (12.93 strikeouts per 9.0 innings).

Clarke, 26, is 4-3 with 1 save, a 5.46 ERA (38 ER in 62.2 IP) and 48 strikeouts in 14 games (13 starts) for the D-backs this season.

Godley, 29, is 3-5 with 2 saves, a 6.39 ERA (54 ER in 76.0 IP) and 58 strikeouts in 27 games (9 starts) this season. In 5 seasons with the D-backs (2015-19), he is 36-30 with 2 saves, a 4.70 ERA (272 ER in 520.2 IP) and 502 strikeouts in 122 games (81 starts).
