D-backs raise $3.4 million for charity at 16th annual Evening on the Diamond presented by Crescent Crown Distributing

The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation raised $3.4 million in support of the local community at the 16th annual Evening On The Diamond, presented by Crescent Crown Distributing, at Chase Field on Saturday night. The evening, hosted by D-backs President, CEO and General Partner Derrick Hall, celebrated the team’s $80 million in community impact and charitable giving heading into the team’s 25th anniversary and was highlighted by significant award presentations noted below. Nearly 800 guests were treated to an exciting concert on the Avnet Stage from country music artist Jimmie Allen.

Lee T. Hanley Community Leadership Award

Philanthropist and inspiring leader Amy Cohn received the Lee T. Hanley Community Leadership Award, which recognizes the impact of a visionary leader in our community who is transforming the landscape of business and philanthropy. Cohn is known for her kindness, leadership and passion, and has helped raise significant funds for the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation, Barrow Neurological Foundation, the Phoenix Art Museum, and she is the National Annual Fund Chair for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Award

The first-ever $250,000 donation for the Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Award was given to the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children. The donation will fund Baxter’s Kitchen, a 1,500-sq-ft kitchen and dining area with space for families to prepare healthy food, gather, and relax and rejuvenate, at Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children’s new Ava’s Tree House. All families who come to Ava’s Tree House will enjoy a meal catered especially for them.

Paddle Raise Benefitting St. Vincent de Paul’s One at a Time Scholarships

The Foundation hosted a paddle raise and many dedicated philanthropists stepped up to the plate to raise more than $1.1 million dollars for the first-generation scholars program at St. Vincent de Paul. The gift will allow St. Vincent de Paul to expand the program that helps students overcome barriers and increase the number of Arizona scholars who will receive scholarships, mentoring and wraparound services specifically designed for first generation students.
