Cubs kick off second half of the season with visits from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and San Diego

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs kick off the second half of the 2019 season at Wrigley Field with games against the Pittsburgh Pirates July 12-14, Cincinnati Reds July 15-17 and the San Diego Padres July 19-21.

Beginning today, fans can enjoy a new activation at Gallagher Way. Marquee Sports Network, the future exclusive television home of the Chicago Cubs jointly owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group (Nasdaq: SBGI), launched a free interactive studio fan experience called the “Marquee Sports Network Studio Experience.” Cubs fans have the opportunity to test their sports broadcasting skills by jumping behind the anchor desk to produce their own Cubs highlight reel. A director will prep fans on how to read from a teleprompter and with a quick countdown, fans will experience the rush of a live taping by announcing exciting Cubs highlights. Fans who participate will receive a downloadable copy of their highlight reel to share on social media using the hashtag #SeeMeOnMarquee.

On Tuesday, July 16, the Cubs will celebrate 1969 at Wrigley Field. Members of the Cubs 1969 team will be on hand to throw a ceremonial first pitch and lead the crowd in the 7th inning stretch. Cubs players will honor the 1969 team by wearing a 1969 throwback jersey for the game. Up to the first 10,000 early arriving fans will receive a Cubs 1969 Replica Jersey presented by Benjamin Moore as a promotional item and join the celebration.

Fans also can take a trip back to 1969 by visiting a full-sized replica of Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit from the Apollo 11 mission located near the Budweiser Bleacher Bar. The suit is visiting Wrigley Field as a part of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum’s Apollo at the Park program, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. Replica statues of Neil Armstrong’s iconic space suit will be placed at 15 Major League Baseball ballparks throughout the season. Fans are encouraged to share their pictures of the suit on social media using the hashtag #SnapTheSuit. While visiting the suit, fans can purchase the limited-edition Budweiser Discovery Reserve, the newest edition to the Budweiser Reserve collection brewed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon mission. The Discovery Reserve will be available at the Budweiser Bleacher Bar from July 16-21.

Fans can tune in to the Cubs YouTube channel to find a unique and engaging mix of content that goes beyond the game. In addition to new episodes of fan-favorites, there will be more exciting original videos and series, including a fanfiction animation series, a “How To” video with Kris Bryant and more! Fans can tune in now and subscribe to the channel by visiting www.YouTube.com/Cubs.

A limited number of tickets are still available for Jon and Farrah Lester’s Fourth Annual NVRQT Goes Country fundraiser Wednesday, July 17, at Joe’s Bar on Weed Street. Fans can enjoy a night of live country music, cocktails, a hearty buffet and premium silent and live auctions alongside Cubs players and coaches.
