Cubs activate LHP Jordan Wicks, recall INF Miles Mastrobuoni

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Chicago Cubs activated left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks from the 60-day injured list today and recalled infielder Miles Mastrobuoni from Triple-A Iowa. To make room on the 40-man roster, the team today recalled infielder Nick Madrigal and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a left pinky fracture.

Wicks, who turns 25 today, is 1-2 with a 4.18 ERA in seven games—six starts—this season for the Cubs. He was placed on the injured list on June 15 and made four rehab starts with Iowa. In his last two rehab starts—August 20 and August 25 both at Toledo—he threw a total of 8.2 scoreless innings.

Mastrobuoni, 28, has played in 43 games this season for the Cubs, hitting .200 (18-for-90) with three RBI. With the I-Cubs, he hit .218 (47-for-216) with four home runs and 22 RBI in 54 games.

Madrigal, 27, hit .221 (19-for-866) with ten RBI in 51 games for the Cubs this season.

The Cubs play the Washington Nationals today at 12:35 p.m. CT in Washington, D.C. at Nationals Park in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 The Score.
