July 4th at the Oakland Coliseum – Watch It Here

Center fielder Kevin Pillar of the Los Angeles Angels earned his second career Play of the Week Award after he previously won on May 4, 2019. On Friday, Pillar reached 10.000 years of Major League service time. It is the third award in Angels’ history after the club won for a triple play last year on August 21st and David Fletcher won on August 17, 2020. With the game scoreless in the bottom of the first inning, JJ Bleday hit a ball to deep center field, forcing Pillar to range back and time his jump to take the home run away. Additional Play of the Week candidates included Joey Loperfido’s acrobatic catch at the wall; Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s incredible catch near the wall; Kyle Isbel’s catch against the wall; Wyatt Langford’s leaping catch at the wall; and Masyn Winn’s diving stop and glove flip to start the double play.
