COLORADO ROCKIES SELECT RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER ANTHONY MOLINA IN THE MAJOR LEAGUE PHASE OF THE RULE 5 DRAFT
DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected right-handed pitcher Anthony Molina from Tampa Bay in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft.
Molina, 21, went 5-7 with a 4.50 ERA (122.0 IP, 61 ER) and 102 strikeouts through 28 games (27 starts) between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham in 2023 … was 3-2 with a 4.37 ERA (55.2 IP, 27 ER) in 13 Triple-A games (12 starts) … named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 16-21 after spinning six shutout frames on May 19, allowing two hits and fanning seven … through four Minor League seasons (2019-23), has gone 23-13 with a 3.64 ERA (301.2 IP, 122 ER) and 254 strikeouts … the San Joaquin, Venezuela native was originally signed by the Rays as a non-drafted international free agent on July 2, 2018.
To make room for Molina on Colorado’s 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold has been released.
The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
