Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals Named American League Player of the Month Presented by Chevrolet for July; Brenton Doyle of the Colorado Rockies Named National League Player of the Month Presented by Chevrolet for July

Shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals has been voted the American League Player of the Month presented by Chevrolet for July, and outfielder Brenton Doyle of the Colorado Rockies has been named the National League Player of the Month presented by Chevrolet for July. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Witt earned his first career Player of the Month Award and is the first Royals player to take home the honor since Billy Butler in September 2009. Kansas City’s 14 consecutive years without a Player of the Month Award was the longest active streak in the Majors. Doyle also claimed his first career honor and is the first Rockies player to take home the award since C.J. Cron in August 2021.

Witt’s 50 home runs overall were the most of any competitor in this year’s Derby. He did not slow down after the competition and on August 1st, he hit his 20th homer of the year, becoming the first player in Major League history to record at least 20 homers and at least 20 stolen bases in each of his first three seasons.
