Atlanta craft whiskey producer ASW Distillery launching newest edition of its collaboration with the Atlanta Braves, Fiddler Chin Music Bourbon, throughout Braves Country
ATLANTA (July 25, 2024) – ASW Distillery proudly announces the release all across Braves Country of its newest collaboration with the Atlanta Braves, Fiddler Chin Music Toasted Bourbon, designed in conjunction with the Braves leadership team. This exceptional bourbon, crafted from ASW's award-winning Wheated Bourbon mash bill, is aged to perfection in toasted barrels—a technique celebrated for imparting rich oak and sweet confectionery notes. Each batch’s pertinent details are listed on an innovative inset on the front label and feature collectible corks bearing each release’s name. Bottled at 100 proof with baseball imagery adorning the label, this “Change Up” edition follows last season’s successful “Fastball” edition and features the Atlanta Braves “Friday Reds” uniform color scheme. Each release will bear a cork emblazoned with the name of the pitch for which the release is named, giving each bottle a unique collectibility not unlike the baseball cards from which the concept takes its cue.
Jim Chasteen and Charlie Thompson started ASW Distillery in 2011; Justin Manglitz, a world-class master distiller, joined his fellow University of Georgia alumni in 2015. ASW was the first whiskey distillery in the City of Atlanta since the American Prohibition. They have since expanded to include a barrelhouse and tasting room in Atlanta’s West End, a vodka/gin distillery and tasting room at The Battery Atlanta, and a forthcoming outpost at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in conjunction with concessionaire Delaware North, which also operates concessions at Truist Park. ASW has released Fiddler Wheated Bourbon, Fiddler Heartwood Bourbon, Winterville Gin, and Hunker Vodka in addition to bringing the state its first-ever Double Gold Medal award for a whiskey with its Duality Double Malt. ASW is the Most Awarded Craft Whiskey Distillery since 2018 at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, with 8 Double Gold Medals, 11 Gold Medals, and 2020’s Craft Whiskey of the Year, Maris Otter Single Malt. Their success has led to significant interest from across the country and beyond – in the last 12 months, ASW has doubled their distribution footprint to include Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
“We are truly excited to be part of the Atlanta Braves family. We have been working with the Braves on the Toasted Series for a long time. Through multiple offerings, the Chin Music Toasted Series should be more consistently available and accessible throughout the year than our limited release collaborations. Go Braves!” said Jim Chasteen, CEO of ASW Distillery.
This “Change Up” edition of Fiddler Chin Music Toasted Bourbon extends ASW Distillery’s relationship with the Atlanta Braves, as both a tenant of The Battery Atlanta development with ASW’s vodka/gin distillery and tasting room, and as an in-stadium sponsor with ASW’s branded bar in Truist Park. The idea for Fiddler Chin Music took shape after the Braves leadership team bottled a private barrel of ASW’s bourbon prior to the 2021 MLB playoffs. From that private barrel, ASW and the Braves decided to make the Braves’ selections more widely available. Derek Schiller, President and CEO of the Atlanta Braves, came up with the name, Fiddler Chin Music, in the first meeting the two organizations held about the project. During the first half of the 2024 regular season, Braves executives played an active role in determining the flavor attributes of Fiddler Chin Music Toasted Bourbon, participating in tastings and providing guidance on the label design.
“We are excited about our continued collaboration with ASW Distillery and their dedication to crafting exceptional spirits like Fiddler Chin Music Toasted Bourbon. This partnership with ASW Distillery and their presence in our lineup at The Battery Atlanta underscores our dedication to offering distinctive products and experiences to our guests and all of Braves Country," stated Mike Plant, CEO and President of Braves Development Company.
This “Change Up” edition of Fiddler Chin Music Toasted features approximately 4,000 bottles, available in ASW Distillery’s three Atlanta tasting rooms and in bottle shops throughout Braves County in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.
