ASTROS PARTNER WITH FREEPORT LNG, NEWEST MEMBER OF COMMUNITY LEADERS PROGRAM
HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Astros have announced a multi-year partnership with Freeport LNG, making the Houston-based LNG export company the newest member of the Community Leaders program.
As part of the agreement, Freeport LNG will support the charitable efforts of the Astros Foundation, which includes providing financial support for youth baseball and softball programs. Freeport LNG has adopted the Dixie Little League and its home field, Ingrando Park. Through the Community Leaders program, Freeport LNG will provide on-going maintenance to Ingrando Park and additional funding for Dixie Little League, relieving some of the financial burden for local families and encouraging young athletes to participate in America’s favorite pastime.
“The Astros Foundation is proud to have Freeport LNG join us as a Community Leader,” said Paula Harris, Executive Director of the Astros Foundation. “The causes at the heart of Freeport LNG perfectly align with the key pillars of our foundation. We look forward to working with Freeport LNG as we continue our mission of making a positive impact on Houston and the surrounding communities.”
A sign for Freeport LNG has been installed above the left-field wall inside Minute Maid Park, alongside the other members of the Astros Community Leaders program.
“This partnership enables us to extend the reach of our community investments in a big way,” said Wendy Mazurkiewicz, Director of Community Affairs for Freeport LNG. “The excitement the Astros generate on and off the field gives a unique energy around our efforts to improve the quality of life in our communities. We couldn’t be more proud to partner with the Astros Foundation in this way.”
The Astros Community Leaders program was developed by Owner and Chairman Jim Crane as an opportunity to provide the next generation of young athletes with the environment and resources they need to support physical and mental development on and off the field. With Freeport LNG’s participation, the Astros Foundation will support Houston youth with baseball and softball leagues throughout the city with all necessary equipment, uniforms, and coaching at no cost to participating families.
