Arizona Diamondbacks partner with Bold Reuse to introduce reusable cup program at Chase Field

PHOENIX, AZ July 25, 2024 – The Arizona Diamondbacks are excited to announce a partnership with Bold Reuse aimed at enhancing their commitment to sustainability. This collaboration, in tandem with Chase Field hospitality partner Levy, will introduce reusable drinkware for all PepsiCo beverages, including Pepsi®, Pepsi® Zero Sugar, Diet Pepsi®, MTN DEW®, Mug® Root Beer, STARRY® and Brisk® Raspberry Iced Tea, available within the Bar-S All-You-Can-Eat Seats. This makes Chase Field the first major pro sports venue in Arizona and the Diamondbacks the first MLB team to implement Bold Reuse reusable drinkware. The pilot program will continue through the end of the 2024 season.

“At the Arizona Diamondbacks, we are dedicated to leading in sustainable sports practices,” said D-backs President, CEO & General Partner Derrick Hall. “Our partnership with Bold Reuse and Pepsi is a major step toward reducing waste and promoting environmental stewardship. By introducing sanitized, reusable drinkware at Chase Field, we enhance the fan experience and set new sustainability standards in sports.”

Fans enjoying a game from the Bar-S All-You-Can-Eat Seats, which features all-inclusive food and beverage service, will have access to unlimited PepsiCo beverages served in reusable cups. After enjoying their drinks, fans can return their cups to the designated “Return Cups Here” bins. Bold Reuse will then collect, inspect, clean, sanitize, and repack the cups to be ready for the next event.

"We are excited to partner with the Diamondbacks as the first MLB team and the first major league sports team in the state to implement reuse," said Heather Watkins, Co-founder of Bold Reuse. "With our wash hub only minutes away from Chase Field, we look forward to working together to reduce waste and strengthen reuse opportunities in downtown Phoenix."

Bold Reuse, a women-owned company on a mission to end single-use waste launched operations in Phoenix, AZ this year backed by a grant from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to expand its operations to the Phoenix market. The ADEQ grant, aimed at helping local communities reduce landfill waste, supports Bold Reuse's vision of a future where billions of tons of waste will be averted over the next decade through the implementation of reusable packaging.

PepsiCo is sponsoring this pilot as part of its pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) efforts to create a more positive value chain by advancing sustainability. This initiative aims to support the pep+ packaging agenda goal to deliver 20% of all beverage servings through reusable models by 2030.

“As a longtime partner to the Diamondbacks, PepsiCo is especially excited to join together to offer local fans and visitors a more sustainable way to enjoy our beverages,” said Shay Hobby, Senior Vice President, Commercial, PepsiCo Beverages North America, West Division. “This pilot program is one of the many ways we’re aiming to progress our ambitious pep+ goals and we’re proud to help create a more positive impact in the community where so many of our employees and consumers live and work.”

Levy, the hospitality partner at Chase Field, has been instrumental in this initiative. Levy has worked with Bold Reuse in other venues providing reusables, such as the Moda Center, CPKC Stadium, Oregon Convention Center, and Providence Park.

As we step up to the plate with this innovative program, we’re proud to lead the charge in sustainable sports practices. For more information on this initiative, visit https://www.boldreuse.com/diamondbacks.
