Angels sign OF Kevin Pillar

ANAHEIM – The Angels today agreed to a one-year, $740,000 contract with OF Kevin Pillar.

Pillar, 35, appeared in 17 games earlier this season for the Chicago White Sox and split time defensively between center field and right field. Since the start of 2015, his 1,008 games played in the outfield rank tied for fifth, behind Mookie Betts (1,139), Christian Yelich (1,104), Starling Marte (1,022) and Charlie Blackmon (1,012). He is also one of 17 active players with at least 50 career outfield assists.

A native of West Hills, CA, Pillar attended high school at the Chaminade College Preparatory School (approximately 60 miles from Angel Stadium) and was a 32nd round draft pick by Toronto in 2011 out of Cal State Dominguez Hills (approximately 25 miles from Angel Stadium). He has totaled 1,131 games across parts of 12 Majors League seasons with the Blue Jays (2013-19), Giants (2019), Red Sox (2020), Rockies (2020), Mets (2021), Dodgers (2022), Braves (2023) and White Sox (2024). He has also played in 24 career Postseason games across three playoff seasons.
