Angels sign INF Brandon Drury to two-year contract

ANAHEIM – The Angels today agreed to a two-year, $17 million contract ($8.5 million annually) with INF Brandon Drury. In a corresponding 40-man roster move, RHP Oliver Ortega has been designated for assignment.

Drury, 30, won a Silver Slugger Award in 2022 at the utility position after setting career highs in runs (87), hits (136), home runs (28), RBI (87) and OPS (.813) across 138 games with Cincinnati and San Diego. He appeared defensively at all four infield positions, as well as right field. He also played in eight postseason games with the Padres and drove in the winning runs in Game 2 of the NLCS vs. Philadelphia.

A native of Grants Pass, Ore., Drury was originally selected by Atlanta in the 13th round of the 2010 Draft and made his Major League debut with Arizona in 2015. He has totaled 645 career games across parts of eight seasons with the Diamondbacks (2015-17), Yankees (2018), Blue Jays (2018-20), Mets (2021), Reds (2022) and Padres (2022).
