A’s Recall OF Lawrence Butler and Select INF/OF Tyler Nevin from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled outfielder Lawrence Butler and selected infielder/outfielder Tyler Nevin from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today. The A’s also designated infielder J.D. Davis for assignment and outrighted outfielder Seth Brown to Las Vegas.

Butler was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was hitting .179 with two home runs, seven RBI and a .555 OPS in 41 games before he was optioned to Las Vegas on May 14. He batted .255 with four home runs, nine RBI, seven stolen bases and a .349 on-base percentage in 27 games with the Aviators.

Nevin was originally claimed off waivers from Baltimore on March 31 and hit .220 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 40 games before he was designated for assignment May 28. He was outrighted to Las Vegas May 31 and batted .296 with four home runs, 17 RBI and a 1.032 OPS in 14 games with the Aviators.

Davis was signed by the A’s as a free agent on March 16 and hit .232 with four home runs, five RBI and a .658 OPS in 43 games with Oakland. He is a .273 career hitter with 119 home runs and 386 RBI in 839 games in eight seasons in the majors with the Astros (2017-18), Mets (2019-22), Giants (2022-23) and A’s (2024).

Brown was on the A’s Opening Day roster and batted .189 with five home runs, 15 RBI and a .557 OPS in 63 games with Oakland. He was originally selected by the A’s in the 19th round of the 2015 draft and made his Major League debut in 2019. The 31-year-old left-handed hitter has a .222 career average with 64 home runs and 201 RBI in 469 games over six seasons with the A’s.
