A’s recall LHP Brady Basso and 1B/OF Ryan Noda from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled left-handed pitcher Brady Basso and first baseman/outfielder Ryan Noda from Triple-A Las Vegas, optioned infielder Tristan Gray to Las Vegas, and placed right-handed pitcher Osvaldo Bido on the 15-day injured list retroactive to September 8 with right wrist flexor tendonitis, the club announced today.

Basso joins the A’s for the fifth time this year. He was recalled most recently on Thursday and tossed 6.0 scoreless innings in a start and no decision against Detroit on Saturday before being optioned on Sunday. He is 0-0 with a 1.93 ERA in four appearances overall with the A’s. Basso has also made six starts for Double-A Midland and has 16 appearances, including 12 starts, with Las Vegas. He has combined for a 5-4 record, a 4.55 ERA and .781 opponents OPS in 22 games, including 18 starts, overall in the minors.

Noda was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was hitting .128 with a home run, two RBI and a .440 OPS in 30 games when he was optioned to Las Vegas following the game on May 1. He is batting .224 with 81 runs, 21 doubles, 22 home runs, 54 RBI, 89 walks, a .391 on-base percentage and .877 OPS in 101 games with the Aviators. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter leads the Pacific Coast League in walks, ranks sixth in on-base percentage, seventh in runs scored and 10th in OPS. Noda started 22 games at first base and one at designated hitter with the A’s and has 50 starts at first base, 42 in right field, six in center field and one at designated hitter with Las Vegas.

Gray was claimed off waivers from Miami on Aug. 27 and was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sept. 1 when rosters expanded. He went 3-for-21 (.143) with 13 strikeouts in eight games with Oakland and is batting .107 in 15 games overall. Gray is also hitting .249 with 18 home runs and 61 RBI in 103 minor league games with Jacksonville (100 games) and Las Vegas (three games).

Bido is 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA and .580 opponents OPS in 16 games, including nine starts, over two stints with the A’s. He is 3-0 with a 2.08 ERA over his last six games, including five starts. Bido had made eight consecutive starting assignments before pitching 2.0 scoreless innings of relief on Saturday against Detroit.
