A’s agree to terms with RHP Mike Fiers on a one-year contract
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers on a one-year contract, the club announced today.
Fiers won a team-leading six games for Oakland last year and ranks among the Major League leaders in wins since he was acquired by the A’s after the 2018 trading deadline. He went 6-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 11 starts in 2020 and is now 26-9 with a 4.00 ERA in 54 games, including 53 starts, as an Athletic. The 35-year-old right-hander tied for seventh in the majors in wins last year and his 26 wins dating back to his acquisition by Oakland on Aug. 6, 2018 are tied for fourth most in the majors over that span. Fiers is now 75-62 with a 4.04 ERA in 216 games, including 197 starts, in 10 seasons with Milwaukee (2011-15), Houston (2015-17), Detroit (2018) and Oakland (2018-20).
