A's acquire RHP Chad Patrick from Diamondbacks for INF Jace Peterson

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A’s have acquired right-handed pitcher Chad Patrick from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for infielder Jace Peterson and cash considerations, the club announced today.

Patrick, 24, is 4-7 with a 4.71 ERA in 19 starts for Double-A Amarillo this season, including 90 strikeouts and 36 walks in 91.2 innings pitched. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 draft out of Purdue University Northwest. In three professional seasons, he is 9-9 with a 4.26 ERA to go along with 150 strikeouts in 143.2 innings of work across 34 appearances (29 starts).

Peterson is slashing .221/.313/.324 with seven doubles, two triples, six home runs, and 28 RBI this season for Oakland. He signed with the A’s as a free agent in December 2022. Across 10 MLB seasons, Peterson has a career .230 batting average with 42 home runs and 235 RBI, with stints with Atlanta, Milwaukee, Baltimore, San Diego, and New York-AL before joining the A’s.
