2024 ‘Dream Series’ features appearance by CC Sabathia, Hunter Greene, Josiah Gray, Cole Tucker, Micah Johnson and more

Major League Baseball and USA Baseball are set to host the seventh annual ‘DREAM SERIES,’ a premiere amateur baseball development camp developed to diversify the talent pool of minority pitchers and catchers. The event, hosted in connection with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Monday, January 15th), will be held at Tempe Diablo Stadium, the Spring Training home of the Los Angeles Angels, featuring nearly 80 top African American and Latino high school players from across the nation. Athletes will receive elite-level instruction from former Major and Minor League players, managers, and coaches.

Major League pitchers and DREAM Series alumnus Hunter Greene of the Cincinnati Reds as well as Josiah Gray of the Washington Nationals and former Cy Young Award, All-Star pitcher CC Sabathia are expected to make appearances as guests during the event. Additional special guests will include former second baseman Micah Johnson, free agent infielder Cole Tucker and National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum President Josh Rawitch. MLB executives on-site will be Tony Reagins (Chief Baseball Development Officer) and Del Matthews (Vice President, Baseball Development).

LIVE BROADCAST:

For the second consecutive season, MLB Network will have a LIVE broadcast from 9:00-11:00 a.m. ET at Tempe Diablo Stadium for a special Hot Stove, hosted by former All-Stars Harold Reynolds and Chris Young. The broadcast on Friday, January 12th will feature interviews with a notable list of DREAM Series participants, current & former Major Leaguers, DREAM Series instructors and several of the special guests (Sabathia, Greene and Gray).

Additionally, MLB Network will debut a new MLB Tonight: A Conversation program on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at 6 p.m. ET, recapping the ‘DREAM SERIES,’ and featuring candid conversations about growing the game of baseball in the African American communities. This program will be available on-demand on MLB.com, MLB.TV and in the MLB App after the MLN Network airing.

ABOUT DREAM SERIES ALUMNI: Alumni of the ‘DREAM Series’ include Major League pitchers Hunter Greene (CIN) and Simeon Woods-Richardson (MIN), as well as 2022 National League Rookie of the Year Michael Harris II (ATL). In 2023, two alumni of the DREAM Series, Jordan Walker (STL) and Taj Bradley (TB), made Major League debuts, while the MLB Draft featured five selectees, all of whom attended the 2023 event, including first-round picks #21 Chase Davis (STL), #25 Dillon Head (SD), #36 Kendall George (LAD), second-round pick Nazzan Zanatello (BOS) and third-round pick Antonio Anderson (BOS). Of note, in 2022, for the first time in MLB Draft history, four of the first five players selected were Black, all of whom are alumni of the DREAM Series (#2 Druw Jones, #3 Kumar Rocker, #4 Termarr Johnson, #5 Elijah Green).
