Nolan Arenado Wins Eighth Consecutive Gold Glove Award

DENVER – Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has been named the winner of the 2020 Rawlings Gold Glove Award for National League third basemen for the eighth consecutive season. He is tied with Scott Rolen for the third-most Gold Gloves by a third baseman in Major League history, trailing only Brooks Robinson (16) and Mike Schmidt (10).

For the 60-game 2020 season, Arenado ranked first among National League third basemen in total chances (163), double plays (19), zone rating (.848), ultimate zone rating (8.5), defensive runs saved (15), defensive WAR (1.7) and defensive runs above average (9.3), while also ranking second in assists (117) and third in fielding percentage (.982) and putouts (43).

Following today’s announcement, voting for the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award will begin online at www.rawlings.com. The voting will open at 6 p.m. MST and will remain open through Thursday, November 5 at 9:59 p.m. MST. Fans will be able to select one player among the 2020 Rawlings Gold Glove winners from each league. Winners will be announced Friday, November 6 at 4 p.m. MST on MLB Network. Also at this time, the winner of the new Rawlings Gold Glove TEAM Award, recognizing the top defensive team in each league, will be announced. Arenado has been named the National League’s Platinum Glove Award winner in each of the past three seasons.
