NICOLE HAZEN FUND FOR HOPE AND THE WOMEN’S BOARD OF BARROW MAKE $400,000 DONATION TO IVY BRAIN TUMOR CENTER DURING BRAIN TUMOR AWARENESS MONTH

Arizona Diamondbacks Executive Vice President and General Manager Mike Hazen, and sons Charlie, John, Teddy and Sam, joined by D-backs President, CEO & General Partner Derrick Hall, presented a donation for $200,000 during last night’s game to the Ivy Brain Tumor Center to support the center’s advancement of brain tumor research. Matching the donation was Cynthia Oehme, and on behalf of The Women’s Board of Barrow Neurological Foundation, Amy and Andrew Cohn, bringing the total contribution to $400,000.

“Nicole and I created the Nicole Hazen Fund for Hope to give others fighting glioblastoma access to the Ivy Center’s innovative therapies and state-of-the-art treatments,” said Mike Hazen. “The hope is through continued funding of the cutting-edge research the center is doing, that we can get closer to a cure for this aggressive and treatment-resistant disease and keep Nicole’s legacy alive. My family and I are incredibly thankful for the matching donation from The Women’s Board of Barrow.”

This donation, made in recognition of Brain Tumor Awareness Month, follows a December 2021 investment by the Nicole Hazen Fund for Hope of more than $1.5 million to the center.

“We are honored to have the continued support of the Nicole Hazen Fund for Hope, the Women's Board and the Rick Oehme Foundation. Each of these parties has been directly impacted by brain cancer and we, at the Ivy Center, are inspired by their commitment to find a cure. Like them, we are committed to discovering new, effective treatments for brain cancer patients, and we're working tirelessly every day towards that goal,” said Dr. Nader Sanai, Chief, Neurosurgical Oncology and Director of Ivy Brain Tumor Center, and Nicole Hazen’s neurosurgeon, who accepted the donation on behalf of the center.
