MLB Network sets announcer teams for exclusive National League Division Series telecasts in Spanish

Oct. 6, 2023 –MLB Network revealed its announcer teams for its exclusive game coverage of the entire National League Division Series in Spanish presented by Booking.com beginning tomorrow, Oct. 7:

MLB Network’s exclusive production of the National League Championship Series in Spanish presented by loanDepot will be called by Fernando Álvarez (play-by-play) and Carlos Peña (analyst). The entire NLDS and NLCS schedule, subject to change, can be viewed in its entirety at MLB.com/postseason. In addition to airing on MLB Network, the Spanish-language NLDS and NLCS game telecasts will be available anywhere in the U.S. via an authenticated live stream to customers of participating pay TV providers through MLBNetwork.com/Watch. TBS will be the exclusive home of the 2023 NL Division Series and NL Championship Series in English.

Álvarez has announced for a wide variety of major sporting events for ESPN Deportes the last 20 years, including MLB games, the World Baseball Classic and the Little League World Series. Maldonado, a 15-year outfielder with the Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers, has been an analyst for ESPN Deportes coverage of regular season MLB games and the World Baseball Classic. Peña, a 2009 American League All-Star, who was a member of the 2008 AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays, has been an MLB Network analyst since December 2014. Muñiz has served as the Spanish-language voice via SAP since the first MLB Network Showcase broadcast in 2009, adding to a broadcasting career spanning 31 years which starts at ESPN Deportes and included the 1993 NLCS and World Series with MLB International as a field reporter and analyst. Alonso, who spent 10 years in MLB from 2010 to 2019 and earned a trip to the All-Star Game in 2017, has been with MLB Network since April 2021.

In addition to MLB Network’s Spanish-language production of the NLDS and NLCS, MLB Network will televise more than 200 hours of studio content this Postseason. Analysis, highlights and interviews will be featured on High Heat co-hosted by Christopher Russo and Alanna Rizzo, MLB Now hosted by Brian Kenny and presented by Best Western Hotels & Resorts, and Intentional Talk co-hosted by Ryan Dempster, Kevin Millar and Siera Santos and presented by Evan Williams Bourbon. MLB Network’s multiple Emmy Award-winning MLB Tonight presented by Evan Williams Bourbon will air live before and after every Postseason game, including on-site at the World Series for the 15th consecutive season.
