Miami Marlins Make Eight Selections On Day Two Of 2024 MLB First-year Player Draft

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today made eight selections on the second day of the 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft. After selecting high school prospects with their first two picks yesterday, Miami proceeded to select collegiate players with seven of its eight picks today (four infielders, two outfielders, and one pitcher). Miami’s first selection today was second baseman Gage Miller from the University of Alabama in the third round (92nd overall).

Miller, 21, is ranked as the 68th-best prospect per MLB Pipeline after finishing his junior season with a .381 AVG (83x218), 12 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, 56 RBI, and 27 walks in 55 games. The six-foot, right-handed batter last season was named Second-Team All-American by Perfect Game, All-Southeast Regional Second Team, and SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

Other selections today included center fielder Fenwick Trimble from James Madison University, right-handed pitcher Grant Shepardson from Mountain Vista HS (CO), shortstop Payton Green from Georgia Tech, right-handed pitcher Nick Brink from the University of Portland, outfielder Jacob Jenkins-Cowart from East Carolina University, third baseman Dub Gleed from UC Irvine, and third baseman Michael Snyder from the University of Oklahoma.

Yesterday, the Marlins selected center fielder PJ Morlando with the 16th overall selection, shortstop Carter Johnson with the 56th overall selection, and right-handed pitcher Aiden May with the 70th overall selection.
