Indians invite two more to Spring Training

The Cleveland Indians announced Saturday that they have signed free agent OF Brandon Barnes and RHP Brooks Pounders to Minor League contracts with non-roster invitations to Major League Spring Training camp.
Barnes, 32, returns to the Indians organization after leading the International League in doubles (39) and runs (T1st, 75) in 2019 at Triple-A Columbus. For the year, he batted .273 (136-for-498) with 14 HR, 81 RBI and 19 steals in 132 games. The Anaheim, CA native also finished second in the I.L. in RBI (81), third in total bases (221) and fifth in hits (136). He was Midseason and Postseason International League All-Star and spent the month of Sept. with the Major League club (19 games, .263, 5-for-19).
Pounders, 28, split 2018 between Colorado and Triple-A Albuquerque in his first season in the Rockies organization, spending two months with the Major League club (April 24-June 26). With Albuquerque, he posted a 3.48 ERA in 26 games (31.0IP, 28H, 12ER, 10BB, 36SO) and 10.45 strikeouts per 9.0 IP, allowing only 1 run over his last 8.1 innings. He owns 38 Major League appearances over the last three campaigns with KC, Los Angeles-AL and Colorado and was Pittsburgh's second round pick (53rd overall selection) in the 2009 draft out of Temecula (CA) Valley High School.
