Indians add Ben Taylor & Evan Marshall from Columbus; Andrew Miller placed on DL
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the Major League roster:
Recalled RHP BEN TAYLOR (#35) & RHP EVAN MARSHALL (#50) from Triple-A Columbus.
Placed LHP ANDREW MILLER (right knee inflammation) on the 10-day Disabled List.
Designated RHP OLIVER DRAKE for assignment.
Taylor, 25, has spent most of the season to date in AAA Columbus, posting a mark of 1-1 with 5 saves and a 3.63 ERA in 15 relief outings (17.1IP, 12H, 7ER, 2BB, 22SO, .188 avg). He is averaging 11.4 strikeouts per 9.0 IP and has limited batters to a .143 (4-for-28) average with runners on base. This marks his second stint with Cleveland (May 2-5), appearing in 3 games over his previous tenure (2.70 ERA, 3.1IP, 2H, 1R/ER, 5SO).
Marshall, 28, has split the season between Columbus and Cleveland, posting a 0.77 ERA in 9 relief outings for the Clippers (11.2IP, 12H, 1ER, 1BB, 9SO) while limiting left-handed batters to a .154 (2-for-13) average against. He was with Cleveland from May 3-19 and made 4 relief appearances (2ER/2.2IP).
Miller begins his second stint on the Major League D.L. in 2018, also spending two weeks (Apr. 26-May 10) on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.
