D-backs place Ketel Marte on bereavement list

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed INF Ketel Marte on the bereavement list following the death of his mother, Elpidia Valdez, in the Dominican Republic. A corresponding move will be made tomorrow.
Marte, 23, is hitting .242 (15-for-62) with 4 doubles, 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and an .814 OPS in 25 games in his first season with the D-backs in 2017. He is eligible to be reinstated from the bereavement list on Thursday.
