D-backs award Mitch Haniger, Josh Taylor with monthly honors

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) named Triple-A Reno OF Mitch Haniger and Double-A Mobile LHP Josh Taylor the organization's Minor League Player-and-Pitcher-of-the-Month for July.
Haniger, 25, hit .402 (45-for-112) with 13 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs and 35 RBI in 28 games in July for the Aces. He led the PCL in average, hits (45), runs (30), extra-base hits (25), total bases (93), home runs, RBI, slugging pct. (.830) and OPS (1.279). Haniger began the season with Double-A Mobile, playing in 55 games, and earned a selection to the 2016 Southern League All-Star Game before earning a promotion to Triple-A on June 10. He was acquired by the D-backs from the Brewers on July 31, 2014 along with LHP Anthony Banda in exchange for OF Gerardo Parra. 
Taylor, 23, went 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA (5 ER in 30.2 IP), 22 strikeouts and 4 walks in 5 starts in July. The southpaw tossed his first career shutout in his debut with Mobile on July 5 after earning a promotion from Single-A Visalia. He was acquired by the D-backs from the Phillies on July 5, 2015 along with RHP Chris Oliver and future considerations in exchange for future considerations.
Every month during the season, the D-backs Player Development staff chooses the player and pitcher most deserving of the honors based on nominations from coaches at each affiliate along with input from the Minor League coordinators.
