D-backs acquire Corbin Martin, J.B. Bukauskas, Seth Beer and Joshua Rojas from Astros for Zack Greinke and cash considerations

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired RHP Corbin Martin (@martin_corbin), RHP J.B. Bukauskas (@JBukauskas22), INF/OF Seth Beer (@beer_seth) and INF Joshua Rojas (@JoshRojass) from the Houston Astros for RHP Zack Greinke and cash considerations.

Martin, 23, was the Astros' No. 4 prospect by Baseball America and No. 5 by MLB Pipeline. In 5 starts for the Astros in 2019, he was 1-1 with a 5.59 ERA (12 ER in 19.1 IP) and 19 strikeouts. In 9 games (8 starts) for Triple-A Round Rock, he went 2-1 with a 3.13 ERA (13 ER in 37.1 IP), .243 opponent average and 45 strikeouts. He underwent Tommy John surgery on July 3.

Over 3 Minor League seasons with the Astros, Martin appeared in 44 games (33 starts) and went 11-4 with a 2.58 ERA (55 ER in 192.0 IP), .203 opponent average and 210 strikeouts. He was a 2018 mid- and postseason All-Star for Double-A Corpus Christi after going 7-2 with a 2.97 ERA (34 ER in 103.0 IP), .221 opponent average and 96 strikeouts in 21 games (18 starts).

He was the Astros' second-round pick in the 2017 draft out of Texas A&M University.

Bukauskas, 22, was rated as Houston’s No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline and No. 5 by Baseball America. He was also tabbed as possessing the Best Slider in the Astros’ organization by Baseball America.

The 6-foot-0, 195-pounder has gone 2-4 with a 5.25 ERA (50 ER in 85.2 IP), .252 opponent average and 98 strikeouts in 20 games (14 starts) for Corpus Christi this season. He was selected to participate in the 2019 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game but did not pitch.

In 3 Minor League seasons in the Astros’ organization (2017-19), Bukauskas was 6-6 with a 3.90 ERA (67 ER in 154.2 IP), .230 opponent average and 178 strikeouts in 37 games (31 starts). He was selected by the Astros in the first round (15th overall) of the 2017 draft out of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was originally drafted by the D-backs in the 20th round in 2014 but did not sign.

Beer, 22, is rated by MLB Pipeline as Houston’s No. 3 prospect and No. 8 by Baseball America. He has combined to hit .309 (112-for-362)/.410 OBP/.564 SLG with 17 doubles, 25 home runs and 86 RBI with Single-A Adv. Fayetteville and Corpus Christi. Beer, who was named to Carolina League midseason All-Star Team, is tied for fourth in the Minor Leagues in RBI.

In 2 seasons in the Astros’ organization (2018-19), he has batted .307 (191-for-622)/.401 OBP/.535 SLG with 31 doubles, 37 home runs and 128 RBI in 165 games. He was selected by Houston in the first round (28th overall) in the 2018 draft out of Clemson University.

Rojas, 25, hit .315 (120-for-381)/.403 OBP/.575 SLG with 29 doubles, 5 triples, 20 home runs, 69 RBI and 52 walks in 97 combined games with Round Rock and Corpus Christi. He is rated by Baseball America as the Astros’ No. 16 prospect and No. 22 by MLB Pipeline.

Rojas, who attended Millennium High School in Goodyear, Ariz., has played 283 games in 3 seasons in the Astros’ system (2017-19), batting .281 (300-for-1,068)/.364 OBP/.481 SLG with 68 doubles, 16 triples, 38 home runs, 164 RBI and 139 walks. He was selected by Houston in the 26th round of the 2017 draft out of the University of Hawaii.

Greinke, 35, was 10-4 with a 2.90 ERA (47 ER in 146.0 IP) and 135 strikeouts in 23 starts with the D-backs this season.

Greinke, who was named to his sixth All-Star Team in 2019, played 4 seasons with Arizona (2016-19), going 55-29 with a 3.40 ERA (270 ER in 714.2 IP), 2 complete games (1 shutout) and 683 strikeouts in 114 starts. He signed a 6-year, free-agent contract with the D-backs on December 8, 2015.
