Colorado Rockies Acquire Left-handed Pitcher Justin Bruihl From the Los Angeles Dodgers in Exchange for Cash Considerations
DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today they have acquired left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations. Bruihl has been added to the 40-man roster and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. The Rockies have 38 players on the 40-man roster.
Bruihl, 26, has split his 2023 campaign primarily between Los Angeles and Triple-A Oklahoma City, serving five stints with the Major League team before being designated for assignment on July 28. The left-hander has pitched to a 1-0 record with a 4.07 ERA (24.1 IP, 11 ER) with 19 strikeouts in 20 appearances with Los Angeles. Prior to allowing three earned runs in his last outing on July 25 vs. Toronto, Bruihl had put together seven consecutive scoreless big league outings spanning nine innings.
Originally signed by the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent in 2017, Bruihl debuted for the club in 2021 and has amassed a 2-2 record with one save and a 3.65 ERA (66.2 IP, 27 ER) in 65 outings across three seasons for the Dodgers.
