Celebrate the retirement of Chase Utley, Brett Eldredge postgame concert & more! Ballpark Buzz for Phillies-Marlins weekend series, 6/21-23
The retirement of 2008 World Series Champion Chase Utley kicks off a weekend of fan events surrounding the Phillies-Marlins series (Friday, June 21-Sunday, June 23) at Citizens Bank Park. Below are some of the highlights:
- Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:40 p.m., as the Phillies celebrate the career of one of the greatest players to ever don red pinstripes during Friday’s sold out Toyota Chase Utley Retirement Night.
- This will be a very special pregame ceremony as “The Man” takes the field to be honored for his 13 years with the Phillies. That night’s ceremonial first pitch will also feature a surprise catcher.
The club’s first-round selection in the 2000 draft, Utley was chosen six All-Star teams (all as a starter) and won four Silver Slugger Awards. He holds the Phillies all-time records among second basemen for games played (1,453) and nearly every offensive category, including home runs (226), hits (1,580), RBI (883) and extra-base hits (616).
- All fans will receive an Utley Bobble Figurine, compliments of Toyota. Plus, there will be limited edition merchandise commemorating Chase Utley’s retirement available at retail locations throughout the ballpark. In honor of the evening, all gates will open at 5:05 p.m.
- The Toyota Chase Utley Retirement Night ceremony will be live on phillies.com. Fans can also watch live on the team’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
- Saturday’s 4:05 p.m. game features lots of pregame and postgame fun for fans of all ages including Fire Prevention Day presented by The Hartford, Bud & Burger Day and the Brett Eldredge Postgame Concert! Plus, enjoy discounts for women’s merchandise at the New Era Phillies Team Store.
- As part of Fire Prevention Day presented by The Hartford, children 14 and under will receive a Fire Helmet. There will also be a pregame ceremony led by Deputy Commissioner Craig Murphy where children will participate in the Junior Fire Marshal Pledge. Plus, be sure to visit the fire truck on Citizens Bank Way prior to the game where educational materials will be available and demonstrations will take place.
- Stop by Boardwalk Eats in the Left Field Plaza to enjoy specials on Budweiser aluminum bottles and burgers, as well as meet 1983 National League Championship Series MVP Gary “Sarge” Matthews, 2:30 - 3:45 p.m.
- After the game, the fun continues as Brett Eldredge will perform an on-field postgame concert! Your game ticket is also your concert ticket – no additional purchase is required.
- Also, be sure to visit the New Era Phillies Team Store (adjacent to the Third Base Plaza) to receive 20% off the purchase of women’s merchandise (some restrictions apply).
- The Phillies are celebrating kids playing ball at Sunday’s 1:05 p.m. Children 14 and under will receive an IBEW Local 98 Rhys Hoskins WIFFLE Ball & Bat Set, and 1,000 baseball and softball players will take part in the Phillies Youth Baseball and Softball Celebration.
- At 11:05 a.m., local youth baseball and softball players will parade around the warning track.

- Gate Openings: On Friday, June 21, main gates open at 5:05 p.m. For all other games, the main gates open 1½ hours prior to game time, with Ashburn Alley and a portion of the Third Base Gate granting access to Pass and Stow open 2 hours before every game. The entrance to Ashburn Alley is the Left Field Gate.
- Parking Lot Openings: All parking lots open 5 hours prior to game time.
