Blue Jays Acquire McAdoo

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired 3B Charles McAdoo from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for UTIL Isiah Kiner-Falefa and cash considerations.

McAdoo, 22, has split the 2024 campaign between High-A Greensboro and Double-A Altoona, appearing in 87 games while hitting .315 with 21 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs, 63 RBI, 17 stolen bases, a .538 SLG and a .932 OPS. The right-handed hitter was selected by the Pirates in the 13th round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out of San Jose State University. The 6-1, 210 lb. native of Walnut Creek, CA, has hit .312 over 115 career Minor League contests, recording 24 doubles, six triples, 19 home runs, 87 RBI, 57 walks, and a .930 OPS.

Kiner-Falefa, 29, has suited up for 82 games in his first season with the Blue Jays this year, batting a career-best .292 with 17 extra-base hits and 33 RBI for a career-high .758 OPS. The 5-10, 195 lb. utilityman was selected by the Rangers in the 4th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, eventually making his big-league debut for the team in 2018. The Honolulu, HI, native has played 731 career MLB games between the Rangers, Yankees, and Blue Jays hitting .264 with 99 doubles, 12 triples, 33 home runs, and 236 RBI, while winning a Gold Glove at third base for Texas in 2020.
