Angels acquire C Logan O'Hoppe from Philadelphia
ANAHEIM - The Angels today acquired C Logan O'Hoppe from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for OF Brandon Marsh. O'Hoppe will be assigned to Double-A Rocket City.
O'Hoppe, 22, is rated by MLB Pipeline as the Phillies #3 prospect and the top position player prospect in the Philadelphia system. In July, he represented the Phillies organization at the All-Star Futures Game at Dodger Stadium. O'Hoppe has totaled 75 games this season with Double-A Reading and posted a .275/.392/.496 slash line with 11 doubles, one triple, 15 home runs, 45 RBI, 41 walks and six stolen bases. Behind the plate, he has a 21% caught stealing rate (14/68).
A native of West Islip, NY, O'Hoppe was originally selected by Philadelphia in the 23rd round of the 2018 Draft out of St. John the Baptist HS (West Islip, NY). In 258 career minor league games in the Phillies system, he has batted .273 (253/926) with 52 doubles, six triples, 39 home runs and 150 RBI, while posting a 26% caught stealing rate (63/244).
Marsh, 24, has played in 163 games across parts of two seasons with the Angels and hit .239 (126/528) with 21 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs, 56 RBI and 14 stolen bases.
