Do you believe in magic? Young Giants fan Ella Tarantino definitely does, and she tried her best to provide some mystical assistance while the D-backs were mounting a rally against San Francisco on Wednesday night.
Here’s the scene: Arizona had put two men on in the sixth inning, bringing Ketel Marte to the plate representing the tying run. It was time for pitcher Kevin Gausman to buckle down. It was also time for this Giants fan to pull out the “two-finger hex.”
The young girl’s spell worked on Marte, who grounded into a fielder's choice. Arizona scored a run later in the inning, but the Giants would get out of the jam without further damage.
Did this girl curse the D-backs? No one can truly say. But the sorcery seemed to work like a charm for the Giants’ bats, as they scored four runs in the following inning to take a comfortable lead they would not relinquish in a 7-1 victory.
