The Yankees traded infielder/outfielder Tyler Wade to the Angels on Monday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Wade, 26, set career highs this past season in batting average (.268), on-base percentage (.354), games played (103), runs scored (31), doubles (five), walks (16) and stolen bases (17). He was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Friday.
In 2021, the versatile utility man appeared at every position except pitcher, catcher and first base. His team-leading 17 steals were the most by a Yankee since '17, when Brett Gardner swiped 23 bags and Jacoby Ellsbury stole 22.
The Yankees originally selected Wade in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Murrieta Valley High School (Calif.).
New York also designated outfielder Clint Frazier and infielder Rougned Odor for assignment on Friday, moves that helped clear space on the 40-man roster to protect prospects from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft.
