July 2: OF Juan Soto (right hand) 'in a good spot'
Manager Aaron Boone believes Soto is 100% healthy after sustaining a right hand bruise on a slide into home plate during Friday’s 16-5 victory over the Blue Jays.

“I think we are good,” Boone said of Soto. “[He was able to get] through the last couple of days. Obviously, it was a swelling and pain tolerance thing. We are in a good spot moving forward.”

Soto underwent X-rays on Saturday, which came back clean, and said that he sensed improvement on Sunday.

RHP Ian Hamilton (right lat strain)
Expected return: Second half
Hamilton was placed on the 15-day IL on June 18 with a mid-grade lat strain and was expected to be shut down from throwing for three to four weeks. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on June 29 that Hamilton is rehabbing but has not resumed throwing. The reliever suffered the injury during his outing against the Red Sox at Fenway Park on June 16, when he allowed two runs in one-third of an inning. Hamilton dealt with a more minor version of the same injury earlier in the season. (Last updated: June 29)

DH Giancarlo Stanton (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: Late July
Stanton resumed treadmill activities on June 27, manager Aaron Boone said: “Not a lot, but he’s moving now. They’ll get him moving around, regularly moving forward and hopefully get him progressing.”

Stanton sustained a left hamstring strain while running the bases on June 22 against the Braves and underwent an MRI on June 23. Stanton said he was told to expect a four-week stint on the injured list. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection on June 23. It marked Stanton’s eighth trip to the IL in the past six years. Last season, he missed 43 games with a left hamstring strain sustained in April. (Last updated: June 28) More >>

OF Jasson Domínguez (significant left oblique strain; *No. 1 on Yankees top prospects list*)
Expected return: September
Domínguez, the No. 30 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, returned to the injured list after feeling a tweak near his left oblique on a checked swing while playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 15. Tests revealed that the 21-year-old Domínguez has a significant strain in the oblique, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on June 20. Domínguez is expected to miss at least eight weeks of action. RHP JT Brubaker (recovery from Tommy John surgery)

Acquired from the Pirates on March 29, Brubaker is recovering from Tommy John surgery performed on April 12, 2023. He has been targeting the All-Star break for a big league return, and the Yankees have spoken optimistically about Brubaker helping them during the second half of the season. (Last updated: June 30)

RHP Clarke Schmidt (right lat strain)
Expected return: Possibly August
Schmidt tossed on June 28 at Yankee Stadium at a distance of 60 feet, having resumed his throwing program on June 24. The right-hander underwent an MRI on May 29 after reporting difficulty bouncing back from a May 26 start at San Diego. He was seen by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on May 30, and manager Aaron Boone said at the time that Schmidt would not throw for four to six weeks.

Schmidt was placed on the 15-day injured list prior to the club’s May 30 game, retroactive to May 27. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list on June 18. (Last updated: June 29)

RHP Nick Burdi (right hip inflammation)
Expected return: After the All-Star break
Burdi is traveling to the Yankees' camp in Tampa, Fla., and was scheduled to throw a live batting practice session on June 30, manager Aaron Boone said. Burdi recently received a platelet-rich plasma injection to treat a flareup of an issue that prompted an injured list assignment earlier in the season. Burdi was placed on the 60-day IL on June 23 in a corresponding move to the Yankees' trade for J.D. Davis. (Last updated: June 29)

RHP Lou Trivino (recovery from Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: Summer 2024
Trivino has resumed throwing from a mound following a bout of right elbow inflammation that stalled his progress in April. At the time, Trivino was seen by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, as well as team doctors, who performed imaging and confirmed no damage to the pitcher’s ulnar collateral ligament. Trivino is recovering from Tommy John surgery performed on May 3, 2023. (Last updated: June 28)

RHP Scott Effross (Tommy John surgery, back surgery)
Expected return: After the All-Star break
Effross had his Minor League rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 26. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Effross “still has a ways to go” after beginning his rehab with two appearances for Single-A Tampa. Effross is recovering from Tommy John surgery performed in October 2022, though he began experiencing back discomfort in autumn 2023, which prompted a microdiscectomy of his L-4 and L-5 vertebrae in December. INF Jon Berti (left calf strain)
Expected return: Possibly late July
Berti is continuing to show improvements and “moving in a good direction,” manager Aaron Boone said on June 21.

Berti, who was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 12, was told to expect a recovery time of approximately six to eight weeks after he was injured on May 24 as he ran toward first base. He was placed on the 10-day IL the following day and received a PRP injection on May 28.

“Hopefully in a few more weeks here, he’ll start to be ready for a rehab [assignment], but it’s a pretty good injury,” Boone said on June 21. (Last updated: June 21)

1B Anthony Rizzo (right forearm fracture)
Expected return: Mid-August
Rizzo will miss eight weeks after fracturing his right forearm in a collision at first base against the Red Sox at Fenway Park on June 16. He will not be able to resume baseball activities for about four to five weeks.

Rizzo said on June 18 that he expects to return this season. On June 19, Rizzo was moved to the 60-day IL when the Yankees activated Gerrit Cole for his 2024 debut.

Rizzo collided with Boston pitcher Brennan Bernardino while running through first base, tumbling beyond the bag and landing on his right arm. He grabbed for his wrist and remained down for several moments. Rizzo at first thought he had hurt his wrist, but imaging revealed the fracture to actually be in his upper forearm, in the elbow area.

As of June 18, Rizzo's elbow was still swollen and painful. His initial day-to-day treatment includes straightening his elbow and going through range-of-motion exercises. If Rizzo stays on the original recovery timeline the Yankees provided, he would resume baseball activities just after the All-Star break, and his return to the Yankees would be in mid-August at the earliest. OF Everson Pereira (right UCL tear; *No. 5 on the Yankees top prospects list*)
Expected return: 2025
Pereira underwent reconstructive Tommy John surgery with an internal brace in early June, manager Aaron Boone said on June 14. Pereira had been playing through the injury at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, last appearing for the RailRiders on May 14. Boone said Pereira’s injury was “unfortunate,” but that similar to Jasson Domínguez, it is one the organization expects him to bounce back from. “This isn’t something that’s going to hurt his career too much," Boone said. "He should come back full strength from this.” (Last updated: June 15)

RHP Chase Hampton (sprained right ulnar collateral ligament; *No. 3 on the Yankees top prospects list*)
Expected return: TBD
Hampton has yet to pitch this season after sustaining a right UCL strain during Spring Training.
