VIP outing among Yanks' Homecoming Dinner Auction prizes

The Yankees’ 44th annual Homecoming Dinner will take place Sunday, May 19, but fans won’t need to attend to take part in the night of charitable giving.

Some items available at the Homecoming Dinner Auction, benefiting the New York Yankees Foundation, will also be available for online bidding through Yankees.com. Bidding ends Tuesday, May 7, at 8 p.m. ET. In addition to memorabilia, available items include game tickets, on-field experiences and an exclusive Old-Timers' Day VIP outing.

“I think that for a real Yankees fan, the greatest package on it is the Old-Timers' Day weekend,” said Debbie Tymon, the Yankees’ senior vice president of marketing. “The opportunity to meet and mingle with the players that come into New York for Old-Timers' Day. We’re honoring the 15th anniversary of the 2009 World Series team [this year], so it’s a wonderful group of alumni coming into town. [The winner] will have an inside opportunity that really isn’t available to anybody.”

The yearly Homecoming Dinner Auction is the primary source of revenue for the New York Yankees Foundation, which provides aid for a number of causes around New York City, with community initiatives targeting economic development, health and wellness, education, social responsibility and overall quality of life. Outreach efforts include grants to community-based organizations, donation of goods and essential supplies in times of crisis and long-term programs to supplement community support networks, all with the goal of creating lasting change and increased enfranchisement for underserved populations.

“There’s a tremendous need in our local Bronx community,” Tymon said. “We do our best to fight the food insecurity that Bronx residents suffer from. We donate in the metropolitan area [and] to national charities. No request is too small when it crosses the desk of the Yankees Foundation.”
