The latest Willy Adames rumors

MLB.com is keeping track of the latest news and rumors surrounding Willy Adames.

Oct. 26: Adames’ potential salary comps in free agency
Coming off a stellar season in which he posted career highs in homers (32), RBIs (112) and steals (21), Adames is poised to become the latest star shortstop to sign a nine-figure deal in free agency.

The Athletic's Jim Bowden (subscription required) predicts a six-year, $150 million deal for Adames while pointing to Dansby Swanson (seven years, $177 million), Javier Báez (six years, $140 million) and Trevor Story (six years, $140 million) as potential comps.

In Bowden’s opinion, the Dodgers should be viewed as "heavy favorites" to land Adames. Los Angeles has a need on the left side of its infield, and president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has a history with Adames from their time together in the Rays organization.

MLB.com's Mark Feinsand also names the Dodgers as a possible fit for Adames, along with the Blue Jays and Giants.

The Brewers could look to bring Adames back as well, though they have never signed a free agent for more than $80 million (Lorenzo Cain) and likely won't have room in the budget to compete with some of the big-market teams expected to pursue the 29-year-old.
