MILWAUKEE -- With plays like the one he made Tuesday, the Willy Adames trade keeps looking better and better for the Brewers.
With sinkerballer Brett Anderson working fast and peppering the bottom of the strike zone, Adames ranged deep into the hole at shortstop for an Eugenio Suárez ground ball in the second inning at American Family Field and fired a one-hopper to first base, where Daniel Vogelbach made a slick pick for a highlight-reel final out of the frame.
It was the latest entry on Adames’ personal highlight reel for the Brewers, who acquired him alongside reliever Trevor Richards from the Tampa Bay Rays on May 22 for relievers J.P. Feyereisen and Drew Rasmussen. Adames has provided a bolt of energy since he arrived, with a 120 wRC+ in a Brewers uniform entering Tuesday night, having solidified the team’s defense at shortstop in the wake of a series of Luis Urías errors.
