KANSAS CITY -- After the Twins' Willians Astudillo lost his helmet twice in a Spring Training game in late March, manager Rocco Baldelli joked that the club would need to find a new helmet for its multipositional sensation -- because, of course, “safety comes first.”
Evidently, the Twins haven’t found that new helmet yet for Astudillo, whose nickname is "La Tortuga" (The Turtle), because his helmet again flopped off his head on a game-tying RBI single to right field in the second inning of Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Royals -- and somehow found its way onto the infield grass in front of home plate.
When asked after the game whether he was in the market for a new helmet, Astudillo said through a translator: "No, I'm getting hits with that one, so it's fine."
