Reliever Carroll dealt to Rangers for cash

SEATTLE -- The White Sox traded Scott Carroll to the Texas Rangers for cash considerations, the team announced Wednesday.
The right-handed reliever was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on July 14. He only made three appearances for the White Sox this season. He had two hitless outings, each an inning long, but had an outing in between in which he allowed three runs in 1/3 of an inning to give him an 11.57 ERA.
Carroll was 2-8 with a 5.55 ERA in 16 Triple-A appearances this season.
