Holmberg likely to start Tuesday vs. Indians

CHICAGO -- David Holmberg appears to be the leading candidate to start for the White Sox Tuesday against the Indians.
"Right now, tentatively, it could be Holmberg," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "So put it in the book if you would like. Subject to change. Write it in pencil with an eraser."
Holmberg was a September callup along with Carson Fulmer after producing a 3.55 ERA over 33 appearances with the White Sox earlier this season. Holmberg owns a 1.50 ERA over his last eight big league outings and registered a 3.86 ERA in six starts this season, including 16 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings with opponents hitting .245 against him.
With Holmberg looking like he will join the rotation, Derek Holland looks to be moving to the bullpen for the season's final month. But Renteria acknowledged hurlers such as Fulmer could get a start or two.
"Carson could get a start here or there. [Dylan] Covey could get a start here or there," Renteria said. "We have multiple guys who have actually been starters primarily.
"In Carson's particular situation, getting him here, putting him in the 'pen, continue to work, I'm sure Coop [White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper] and Has [bullpen coach Curt Hasler] as a staff will talk about it. The front office will talk about it, and see where we might pencil guys in at certain times, give them another look as a starter."
Garcia continues to impress
Avisaíl García entered Sunday's game hitting .327, the fourth-highest average in the Majors and second behind Jose Altuve in the American League. Garcia set a new career high with his 14th home run on Saturday, as he finishes his first All-Star season strong.

"We all know that he is great as a player," White Sox first baseman José Abreu said through interpreter Billy Russo. "He did great work during the offseason trying to put himself in the best position for this season.
"I think one of the things for me that I'm impressed with is how he has learned to be patient at home plate, his approach in every at-bat. That's something that lets you know when a player is feeling comfortable and is growing up, you can see that kind of change. In his case, he has done it."
Special visitors
Eloy Jiménez, baseball's No. 7 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, will be a guest at Guaranteed Rate Field on Tuesday. Michael Kopech, the No. 12 prospect and top pitching prospect in the game, will be at the ballpark on Wednesday.
Jimenez is hitting .314 with 19 home runs, 65 RBIs and a .956 OPS in the Minors this season, while Kopech recorded 172 strikeouts over 134 1/3 innings this season.
