Team to watch
Chicago envisions shortstop Colson Montgomery and third baseman Wes Kath, its top two picks in the 2021 Draft, rising though the Minors together. They'll begin their first full pro seasons at Single-A Kannapolis, where they'll be joined by right-hander Jared Kelley and sleeper shortstop Wilber Sanchez.

New faces
After signing for $2.7 million in January, Cuban outfielder Oscar Colas will begin his pro career at High-A Winston-Salem. His power and arm strength rival those of any prospect in the system.

On the shelf
Right-hander Norge Vera came down with a lat strain in March and the White Sox are handling him with care, having him build up arm strength in extended spring training before a likely assignment to Single-A Kannapolis in 6-8 weeks. Righty Jonathan Stiever is on Chicago's 60-day injured list as he continues his recovery from lat surgery last August. Righty Tanner McDougal, a fifth-round choice last June, will miss the entire season after having Tommy John surgery in October.
