LIVE: Cardinals, Pirates clash on Peacock

This week's “MLB Sunday Leadoff” game, streaming exclusively on Peacock, features an NL Central showdown between the Cardinals and Pirates at PNC Park. Sunday marks one week since the Pirates won a game despite not recording any hits, so who knows what's in store as they take on a St. Louis squad led by NL MVP candidate Nolan Arenado. Coverage started with the pregame show at 11 a.m. ET on Peacock, and the game followed at 11:30 a.m.

Play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti is joined in the booth by Cardinals legend Jim Edmonds, who has served as a studio and game analyst for Bally Sports Midwest’s Cardinals coverage since 2013, and Bob Walk, who spent 10 years pitching for the Pirates during his playing career and is in his 29th year as a member of the Pirates’ broadcast crew.

MLB Sunday Leadoff schedule

MLB Sunday Leadoff on Peacock debuted on May 8, beginning an 18-week schedule of exclusive MLB contests every Sunday morning. Each week, Benetti will be joined in the booth by local analysts covering the participating teams.

NBC Sports’ Ahmed Fareed hosts the MLB Sunday Leadoff pre- and postgame shows each week, and also serves as the in-game reporter. This Sunday, Fareed was joined by 18-year MLB veteran and three-time All-Star pitcher Dan Plesac, who is currently an analyst for MLB Network. Rob Friedman, aka PitchingNinja on Twitter (@PitchingNinja), also joined the pregame show to provide pitching breakdowns.

The MLB Sunday Leadoff game each week is the only game scheduled until 1:30 p.m. ET, when the rest of the day’s action will begin. The start time for each MLB Sunday Leadoff game is 11:30 a.m. ET through June 12, and noon ET for the remainder of the games through Sept. 4.
