Franco triples twice, extends hit streak

Wander Franco just keeps on raking while he awaits the inevitable: a call-up to make his MLB debut for the Rays. The No. 1 prospect in baseball per MLB Pipeline went 2-for-4 with a pair of triples to help Triple-A Durham beat Norfolk, 7-5, at Harbor Park on Wednesday night.

It marked the first time Franco had tripled twice in a game since he achieved the feat in Rookie-level ball with Princeton on July 4, 2018. The 20-year-old shortstop is hitting .326 with a 1.002 OPS this season, his first at the Triple-A level. The triples were his second and third on the season, and he's also hit seven home runs in his first 35 games of the season.

And if all of that wasn't enough, the triples extended Franco's hitting streak to 13 games. Catch this phenom in the Minors while you can, so you can say you saw him then, because he may not be there much longer.
