Vlad Jr., Soto candid about their speed limit
What do two of the best hitters in baseball, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Juan Soto, talk about during a game?
Their foot speed, obviously. Or rather, their lack of it.
That and many other fun conversations were captured as Guerrero was mic’d up for the Blue Jays’ game against the Nationals on Aug. 17.
The American League MVP candidate sounded determined to catch the Nats’ phenom in stolen bases, where Soto has a 6-4 advantage. Soto responded with a self-deprecating rhetorical question: “Do you think I’m getting very far with these skates on my feet?”
Each man then admitted to one another that they have always been a “heavyweight” and used to hide whenever they were asked to run 60-yard dashes during training.
In this latest episode of “Play Loud” on YouTube, you also get to hear about the star-studded party Vlad Jr. plans to host after the season, just how serious Nationals outfielder Gerardo Parra is about his coffee and a lot more entertaining insight.
