Robles sprains ankle in Dominican winter ball
Nationals center fielder Victor Robles sustained a sprained right ankle while playing for Águilas Cibaeñas in the Dominican Republic. He has not played in the last three games and is listed as day to day, the team announced on Saturday.
Robles, 23, is participating in winter ball ahead of his fifth Major League season, in which he is looking to have a bounce-back year. In 2020, his numbers dropped to .220/.293/.315 with a .608 OPS across 52 games. The 2019 Gold Glove Award finalist added around 15 pounds of muscle to his frame this season.
In the Dominican Winter League, Robles is slashing .304/.429/.478 with a .907 OPS in 23 at-bats.
The Nationals have to address rounding out their starting outfield of Robles and left fielder Juan Soto this offseason after declining the team's option on right fielder Adam Eaton.
